1. i sucked my thumb until 5th grade. i had braces for 4 1/2 years...rubberbands, headgear - i had it all. my first orthodontist even bought me a watch in an effort to bribe me to stop sucking my thumb.
2. my cousin won season 4 of beauty and the geek.
3. i love going to movies alone.
4. i love to eat. and if it has anything to do with bread and cheese, even better. my dad likes to joke about it - "i knew we needed to buy more groceries because meg was coming home."
5. during the first month i lived in nyc, a random (rich) man at a bank who worked in the music industry took out a bunch of cash in stacks (it was like a movie) from the teller, turned around and gave me and the woman behind me each a $100 bill saying "dinner was on him."
6. i have run 11 half marathons (8 in nyc, 3 in columbus) and 2 marathons (both in nyc). i am running my 3rd marathon in may (in cincinnati).
7. G, my parents and my sisters are lucky enough to see that i am a kid and act like one most of the time... probably about the same age as the kids i teach.
8. i have 3 sisters and we are all different but so much the same. we have our own language and they are my best friends. (anyone who uses the word "nugget" has been affected by this vernacular - kristin has the trademark on that word.) i have no idea what i would be like, dress like, where i would live or what i would do without them.
9. my boyfriend was named after Pope John Paul (except in italian)...not sure what that's worth but i think it's neat.
10. i wish i could sing, but i can't. but it doesn't stop me sometimes. select people have the opportunity to hear me sing, but mostly my car gets this special treat. i can sing etta james' "at last" really well when i am by myself and it is really loud. my dream is to be a singer...how fun would it be if your job was to look cool, sing your heart out and be the center of attention all at the same time?
11. my favorite article of clothing is anything made with american apparel's triblend. yum.
12. i have lived with random roommates three times (OU, NYC and Cincy) and every time they became good, if not best, friends to me.
13. my car is named after a realtor's nickname who appeared on HGTV's House Hunters (thanks bryn & kristin!).
14. when i was 23 i got to go to amsterdam for work. that is still my one and only time out of the country.
15. when i was little the birthday dinner i used to request was corned beef and cabbage.
16. i love, love, love little kids, especially the ones i get to be around everyday. but i am scared and not ready to have any of my own.
17. i look up to one of my best friends steph in so many ways. she is so strong.
18. i still listen to the song mmmbop when i work out.
19. willy wonka and the chocolate factory is in my top 5 movies.
20. one time, when i lived in nyc, i tried to get on the wrong bus. it was a charter bus and the driver felt bad for me so he took me to work anyway - it was just me and him...i got a private bus ride to work in nyc.
21. some of the best friday nights i remember from my childhood were playing tennis soccer in the upstairs hallway with bryn, sliding down the basement stairs on the exercise mat and doing olympic ice skating in socks in the family room and kitchen and gymnastics on the couch. weekend dinners always included dad's homemade pizza or italian subs with our weekly soda (we were allowed one a week).
22. when i was in first grade, i got bit in the butt by the neighbor's dog walking home, after he told me, "don't worry, they're friendly. he won't bite."
23. i used to play school for HOURS when i was little. i would come home from school and go down in the basement to play school. nerd.
24. i love salt and anything that has salt in it or on it. and then i put more on top. i owe this love to my dad...which reminds me of the next random thing...
25. when we were little my dad would give us salted raw meatballs as a "treat." it makes me sick to think about now but we never got sick...it was before all this crazy madcow garbage and whatnot.
